New Year's Resolution?

New Year's Resolution always feels like too much of a commitment. It's pretty daunting to say: I am going to start a new lifestyle, or I want to reverse my condition of __________ (maybe hyertension, type 2 diabets, or other medical condition?), so I can be well.

Of course, if you have a dog, that pup would love to go for a walkie with you!

Wellness is the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes, so that instead of just surviving, you’re thriving.

So how about starting with small changes that will move you towards your lofty goal? Maybe promise yourself to go for a 5 minute walk after dinner on Mondays. That's so do-able, right? Once you get used to doing it, 5 minutes won't be enough. You'll want to go longer, and maybe more often as you start finding this walk puts you in a better mood, takes away the cravings for late night snacks, AND helps you to sleep better at night.

Another small habit might be strength training. Again, start low and go slow. Just one day a week, put on a YouTube workout video and do a short 20 minutes training. We all have 20 minutes once a week. And you just might like it enough to do it everyday over time! And click on that YouTube link. You'll love PJ, she is a fantastic trainer!

We are all capable of building habits. Sometimes, we build unhealthy habits, like eating chocolate while watching TV after dinner. Let's replace that with another habit that is healthier. Get off the couch and go for a 5 minute walk. I promise you that you won't regret it!
