My friend posted on FB that she is joining the November 30x30 movement, which caused me feel like I need to do something as well. What is 30x30? It's a commitment to move for 30 minutes outside everyday for 30 day. November is a difficult month with the weather getting cold and wet, and none of us really feel like going outside much. Having said that, I also recognize the benefits of exercising outdoors. So this was a great opportunity for me to get my butt off the chair and go move!
This challenge is based on the original Capra 30x30 (click on image below), Capra is a running store based in Squamish, B.C. As more and more people sign up for this event, my firend was inspired to do the same. But since she is not a runner, she thought she would do her own take on this challenge.
Movement can be anything from walking, running, biking, hiking, or skiing (if your area is already cold enough to have snow). I am going t start tomorrow with an easy jog for 30 minutes, and it may be a brisk walk the following day with the dog.
Just because I think I can, I've also committed to a 21 day fitness challenge. This is a challenge offered by trainer extraordinaire PJ Wren for women over 40 (link below). I missed the last round, but saved all the videos so I can start when it's the right time for me. These 21 workouts are not long, each segment is usually around 30 minutes.
With the two challenges, I will have 60 minutes of movement everyday. sounds like a lot, but this is manageable. On days where PJ's workouts are hard, I'll go for a walk. On days they are easier, I can go for a run.
I am really looking forward to these challenges and I'd encourage you to take on some challenges for yourself during this month too. Pick an activity that suits you for the day, and Keep Moving!
